Putting People First

We started with humble beginnings.

Vemvane was formed in 1988 by a network of like-minded families. These founders shared a common desire for human services organised on a small scale, within local communities. Back then and today, we exist to provide valued opportunities to people with disabilities through personalised support that maximises positive outcomes.
 
Operating informally and non-bureaucratically, Vemvane authentically reflects the character of the people and communities it exists in. More than structure and red-tape, there is an emphasis on participation, dialogue, approachability, relationships, and most importantly, genuine client control and decision-making.
 

Here, clients are in control.

People have choice and control in the types of support they receive, who provides that support, as well as the timing of that support and how it's delivered.
 
By strategically creating supportive environments, clients maintain personal influence and autonomy, and can choose how they participate. They can shape supports in a way that reflects their values and preferences, as well as establish intentional safeguards.
